Bench plans can be extremely elaborate or extremely simple. It all really depend on what you’re looking for in a bench.

Types Of Benches To Consider
There are a few different kinds of benches that people like to make. One kind is the garden bench. This type of bench is very popular among folks that like to enjoy their yards. With the right garden bench plans, you can add a touch of beauty to your back yard while providing yourself with some nice seating.
Other outdoor benches are deck benches, porch benches, and pool benches. All of these benches need to be able to survive the extremes of the outdoors and should be finished with an outdoor finish to make them more durable.
The great thing about outdoor benches is that you have the option to find bench plans that show you how to create planters in your bench. In fact, you can even add an arbor around the bench or short trellises on each side.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to sit at your garden bench and eat fruits and vegetables that are growing right next to you?
Just keep in mind that when you build this type of bench for edible plants, you’ll need to use wood that is not pressure treated. Unfortunately, with most wood this will reduce durability. In order to fix this problem, you’ll want to use cedar, redwood, or a wood with an all natural finish like Penofin.
Bench Plans – The Indoor Type
Indoor wood bench plans also have some fun options that you can add to them. For instance, you can use your homemade indoor wooden bench as a chest to store items in.
Another option is to build it right in the room you plan on using it in. This means that you can create a very large bench that wouldn’t normally fit through the room’s door way.
